Faala Preschool We started work on a preschool for young families in Faala in 2015. Faala is a small but growing village to the North of Sanyang in the Combo district of Gambia. It is a new settlement and as such has very few civic services. Of particular importance to the local people was the need for a school for the very youngest kids. There are schools for all ages in neighbouring Sanyang, but not within walking distance for the smaller kids.

Collaboration We worked together with local businessman Jawla and his wife Sainabou to design and build the school on a piece of land in the centre of Faala (Jawla donated this land to the project). The school has been open since September 2016 and the children and their families are benefiting from a very high standard of teaching provided by headmistress Kumba and her team of three teachers, one caretaker and one nanny.
